Magic School House Learning Center (MSHLC) is a nonprofit organization that targets all families, regardless of background or income. The purpose of MSHLC is to provide quality child care to the Dallas, Texas area. This mid-sized child care facility serves children ranging in age from twelve weeks to twelve years.
The center will provide parents with a sense of security that their children are safe and nurtured while in the center’s care. We will also offer a comprehensive summer, spring, and winter break program.
Magic School House Learning Center (MSHLC) offers full-time, part-time, and before and after school care to parents while they are working, in school or training. Fees will be based on a sliding fee scale to assist those who may not be able to afford childcare. We will also accept ChildCare Assistant participants.
Magic School House Learning Center is committed to taking a leadership role in child care services, higher learning, community services and promoting cultural diversity. MSHLC directs its activities towards student success.
The Creative Curriculum
Magic School House Learning Center
Magic School House Learning Center will use the nationally recognized ‘The Creative Curriculum’. Based on research of child development over the past 75 years, it shows that all children benefit from developmentally appropriate practices.
Main developmental areas that will be addressed each week in Magic School House curriculum are:

Social/Emotional Development- connecting with others motivates a child to learn and provides them with a sense of who they are in the world.

Cognitive Development - involves the way children think and develop.

Language Development - includes understanding and communication through words both spoken and written.

Physical Development - a child’s gradual control over their large and small muscles. Children, ages 1 to 5, learn to work cooperatively in small groups to reach developmental milestones and school readiness through exploring and experimenting in our learning center.

Creative Arts - teaches texture, color, design, motor control and promotes creative expression.

Library and Language - experiences which enhance vocabulary, listening and writing skills and early reading.

Math and Manipulative's - introduces problem solving, patterning, number concepts, orders and fine muscle coordination.

Sensory Wet and Dry - encourages children to explore a variety of substances using their senses and enhancing math and science experiences.

Block Building - promotes learning of shapes, dimension, size, balance, construction and encourages cooperative play and creativity.

Music and Movement - offers creative experiences, teaches melody and develops large motor skills.

Science and Discovery - it’s all about the world around us. Opportunities are provided that will spark a child’s curiosity and wonder.
Our Daily Infant Development program is as follows:
The first year of life is critical and each infant is a unique individual with distinctive needs. The Creative Curriculum will be used to support infants and provide:

Individual care with daily written and verbal communication.

Development of a trusting relationship with responsiveness to individual needs.

Staff who will love and have an attentive nature.

Each infant’s health, happiness and well-being are Magic School House’s primary responsibility.

Caregivers will be educated to provide for every stage of infant’s development through encouraging language acquisition, social interaction and physical growth.
Magic School House Learning Center will provide family’s with a detailed written daily report for each infant and twice yearly in-depth, written progress reports and parent-teacher conferences.

There will also be musical instruments, toys for pretend play, safe equipment, and both indoor/ outdoor places to explore. Parents will have peace of mind knowing that Magic School House Learning Center’s stringent safety, security, and cleanliness standards meet or exceed all state and local guidelines.
At Magic School House Learning Center, Toddlers are Big People
A toddler’s life is marked by rapid growth in language acquisition, self-sufficiency and social skills. Magic School House Toddler Program is designed to:

During this period of development, 3 year old children begin to trust those outside their family, gain independence and self-control and learn to assert themselves in socially acceptable ways. At the same time they become eager observers of their world. All Magic School House 3 year old classrooms will follow The Creative Curriculum and provide:

Magic School House Learning Center Preschool Pre-Kindergarten classrooms will utilize The Creative Curriculum to provide 4 year old children with:

Daily opportunities to learn alphabet and letter sounds, numbers, quantities, simple math, early literacy and writing skills that will challenge your child.

A curriculum which is designed and implemented to meet and exceed the Texas Early Childhood Education Standards set by the Texas Department of Education.

For School Agers, Magic School House is the Place to Be!
Magic School House will provide a safe, stimulating and challenging before, after and school days off program. School-age Program provides childcare for children 5 through 12 year old children:

EDUCATIONAL ADVANTAGE TOOLS

Your Baby Can Read for all infants , toddlers and preschoolers, of the 93 million adults in the U.S. functioning at or below basic levels of literacy, 30 million are the parents or primary caregivers of children ages 0-8 (National Center for Family Literacy Fact Sheet). By offering Your Baby Can Read, Magic School House hopes to decrease the number of people functioning at or below basic levels of literacy.
"Kid Fit" Fitness Training is for, toddlers and preschoolers who are between the ages of 2-5. Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 30% in 2018. Similarly, the percentage of adolescents aged 12–19 years who were obese increased from 5% to 18% over the same period.
In conjunction with the Kid Fit program, Magic School House Learning Center will participate in the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) food program serving healthy meals and snacks to our children on a daily basis.

E'colby Smith
and its Board of Directors
E'colby Smith graduated with a diploma in Computerized Business Systems with Network Administration from Computer Learning Center in 1997. He has completed 54 hours in Early Childhood Development. Sheshonq El is certified by Childcare Group of Texas in developing a Family Child Care Business and certified in Child Care Basics Pre-Service and Transportation.
The board of directors is the governing arm of Magic School House Learning Center. The board is responsible for developing, establishing and enforcing the center's policies. The board provides oversight of all functions, including financial and regulatory, and supervises the day care directors.
Magic School House Learning Center’s staff will start off with 6 teachers; two infant teacher, three toddler teacher and one teacher for the after school program.
Magic School House Learning Center teaching staff will be composed of experienced educators who know how to structure and maintain the high standards of Magic School House Learning Center.
The Directors will meet the conditions required by the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services and have a current valid Director’s License. Director’s will obtain a minimum of 30 hours annual training and must continuously look for ways to improve and/or enhance the programs.
The teachers will recognize the importance of a thorough knowledge of each child’s individual temperament and personality in order to optimally support each child’s development. Each classroom teacher will have at least 15 college semester units in Child Development and 2 years’ experience. They will obtain a minimum of 20 clock hours of training annually, pass criminal background check and be CPR and first aid certified.
